I've been a lot of places in my short 18 years of life and I'm sure I'll go to a lot more. The one thing that has always been universal is how beautiful wild life can be.
My family and I took a trip to yellow stone national park a few years ago and I can honestly say this was one of my first experiences with legitimate wild life. I saw countless different species of birds and even some buffalo.
When we stumbled across this deer, I was awestruck. I had never seen something so majestic and serene up close.
My family and I just sat there in silence while we watched the animal nibble on grass. I've seen a lot of beautiful architecture in my time but nothing will ever beat the experience of wild life.

She & Him
She & Him at the 2010 Twilight Series Concert
I've traveled far and wide but the most fun I think I've had is here in Utah. I live in Ogden so technically going to Salt Lake is traveling.
Every summer Salt Lake host's a free outdoor concert on Thursdays for a few weeks. This music festival is called the, Twilight Concert Series and has nothing to do with that shitty book.
I've gone for about three years and I enjoy myself thoroughly every time. The most memorable time I think I've had is at She & Him. This is the concert where I met my boyfriend.
We are both avid listeners of the band, but I think it was fate. He looked at me and I knew I was his. It goes to show you magical things can happen right in your own backyard. You don't need to go somewhere unique to have a fairytale come true.

An Unlikely Treat
![]() |
| Fried bugs in China |
The first place we stopped was a silk factory. They showed us the silk worms and the traditional way of creating silk fabric.
Our second stop was a huge night market in Beijing. This is where I tired snake, scorpion, and larva for the first time. And might I say they were mighty delicious.
China is a unique place with unique foods and experiences. I'm glad I've gotten the chance to broaden my horizons.

The Great Buddha of Kamakura
![]() |
| My brother at the Great Buddha |
Our trip was amazing and I really wish we could go back soon. We went to a variety of cities and experienced multiple new adventures.
We took a 4 hour round trip train ride to the great city of Kamakura. We saw the Kamakura Daibutsu, the second largest Buddha in all of Japan. The Buddha has been there since 1252 and was once surrounded by temple buildings. The buildings have now been swept away by tidal waves, but the great Buddha still stands.
The Daibutsu was one of the most amazing and touching sites I have ever seen. The story behind the Buddha is once of great endurance and faith.

The Beautiful City of Jiufen
![]() |
| Jiufen |
Jiufen is a small town in the Northeast hills of Taiwan. It has beautiful views of the pacific ocean and lush green scenery.
Jiufen was once a prosperous gold mining town, but was soon forgotten after the decline of gold mining. Jiufen remained as an anonymous small town until several movies used the location.
Jiufen is now a prosperous tourist attraction. Attracting foreigners and natives a like. There are quaint streets and small shops that line the streets and venders around each bend.
Jiufen is a rare and unique town, that embodies and embraces the old culture and the modern conveniences.

The Slot Canyon Exploration
This last summer my boyfriend and I took a trip to Capitol Reef National Park and I can honestly say the scenery took my breath away. While we were there we hiked, swam, and climbed.
One of the main reasons we went to Capitol reef was so I could experience my first slot canyon. A slot canyon is a narrow canyon formed by the wear of water rushing through rock. Slot canyons are literally all over Utah, mainly in Southern Utah so it came as a shock to my boyfriend when I told him I had never been to one.
We entered the wash (the entrance to the slot canyon) and hiked for a couple miles. We then came upon a narrow crack in the middle of the mountains, thus was our entrance.
There were so many beautiful rock formations that had been created over time from either erosion, water, or just wind. I never knew rock could be so smooth and delicate.
We twisted and turned for a few miles until we could go no further. The path had been sealed off by a small body of water, too deep and dangerous for us to cross. We turned back but with smiles on are faces for we had completed our journey.
